A few words from the President regarding the Fall Conference…

Posted by:  /  Tags: , , ,

Dear, Fellow NAEB, New England Colleagues:
As the end of summer approaches, we all are working diligently to help prepare
our institution as we open a new school year. I am looking forward to this year’s
conference and the opportunity it provides us to, collaborate and learn from each
other. Our Keynote Speaker this year is Robert McInturff founder of McInturff
and Associates. Bob is no stranger to our profession he comes to us from a
supply chain background before branching out to start his own firm specializing
in the placement of supply chain professionals. Bob will be able to bring us
some interesting insights on the value of education, collaboration and staying
current in the profession. As procurement professional daily, we are faced with
challenges and opportunities and attending the NAEB New England Annual
Conference and Product Exhibit is a great and economical way to help us
address. sharpen or acquire new tools and techniques. Skills that later can be of
great benefit to your and your institutions.

Our agenda this year was designed through our member feedback initiatives.
Common themes of interest were identified at the Management Forum, Buyers
Forum, and through other input. The Programming committee has created a
schedule that promises to keep you on the cutting edge of our field. There are
educational sessions covering Cyber Liabilities, Legal literacy, Benchmarking,
Strategic Sourcing, Social Networking and more. Also once again, we are
providing you the opportunity to learn from our supplier often they are a great
resource for new product and service offerings.

Recognizing that funding can be tight, for educational programs please be aware
that we are offering the Boston College Administrative Program review program
scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at no cost. So come out early and discover what
lessons they learned. Scholarships are available for the conference as well.

As always, one of the main benefits the conference and this organization provide
is the opportunity to network with your peers. This year changing things up a
bit we are planning a Carnival and DJ Jeff Hall to get things started on Tuesday
evening. Please remember to bring some items from your school to auction off
and pack something to wear with your school’s name on it. The Silent Auction
and the items you donate help fund our scholarship program.

Wednesday night we are planning a Silent Auction and dinner at the Red Jacket.
The food is outstanding so bring your appetite. Music to follow!

Joan Anderson is coordinating the Thursday afternoon Golf Tournament. This
year 9-holes will be played at the Hale’ Location Golf Course For non-golfers
there will be hiking and of course the great shopping at North Conway’s many
outlet stores.

Thursday evening includes dinner and a short business meeting followed by
Karaoke and prizes.

On behalf of the entire NAEB-NE Board and Programming Committee, we look
forward to seeing you in North Conway NH, October 19th – 22nd.

Best Regards,
Mike Durkin
President, NAEB-NE 2010

MHEC Expo

Posted by:  /  Tags: , , ,

Dear NAEB Members:

NAEB New England is happy to support MHEC in getting the word out about this year’s Member/Vendor Expo. The Expo will be held on 09/16 & 9/17 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel.

It is a great event and if you have not registered for it yet, you can do so by visiting their website at http://www.mhec.net or http://www.mhec.net/uploads/pdfs/memberinvite.pdf.

The Program and their theme “Turning Over a New Leaf,” looks great and can be accessed at this site:

http://www.mhec.net/uploads/pdfs/programintheworks.pdf

As usual, the list of vendors is impressive and they have included many opportunities to attend workshops, network with your colleagues, and have lunch on MHEC!

The Expo is a great FREE event and is well worth attending. If you are a first time attendee, or a regular at the Expo, the event is well worth attending. MHEC has opened the event up to the region so even if you are not a member of the MHEC, they would like you to come as their special guests!

If you have any questions regarding the Expo or MHEC you can contact Joan Miller at 413-577-3550.

Hope to see you there!

-Mike
